Netflix to acquire Warner Bros. in $72 billion deal

Saturday, December 6, 2025 -
Netflix announced a blockbuster agreement to acquire Warner Bros. for $72 billion, creating one of the largest entertainment mergers in history. The deal comes after Warner Bros. completed its corporate split from parent company WarnerMedia, positioning Netflix to dramatically expand its content library and global reach.

The acquisition is expected to add hundreds of high-profile movies and shows to Netflix’s streaming platform, reinforcing its dominance in the competitive streaming market.

Industry analysts say the move will give Netflix unparalleled access to Warner Bros.’ franchises, including blockbuster films, iconic television series, and lucrative licensing deals.

The acquisition will allow Netflix to produce more original content while leveraging Warner Bros.’ established brand to attract new subscribers worldwide. Investors reacted positively to the announcement, with Netflix stock rising sharply on the news.

Executives at Netflix emphasized that the merger will accelerate the company’s international growth strategy and diversify revenue streams beyond subscriptions.

While regulatory approval is still pending, the deal signals a major shift in the entertainment landscape, as streaming platforms continue to reshape how audiences consume movies and television.
