HOMAN defends TRUMP after president calls Somali community ‘garbage’

Monday, December 8, 2025 -
Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official John Homan came to President Donald Trump’s defense following comments in which Trump reportedly referred to the Somali community as “garbage.”

Homan characterized Trump’s remarks as being taken out of context and stressed the former president’s record on immigration and public safety.

Homan argued that Trump’s policies aimed to protect American communities and claimed that media coverage has unfairly portrayed his statements, framing them as broadly offensive.

He reiterated that Trump’s intent was focused on specific concerns around crime and integration challenges rather than targeting an entire ethnic group.

The controversy has sparked widespread criticism from political leaders, advocacy groups, and community members, highlighting ongoing tensions around immigration rhetoric in U.S. politics.

Despite the backlash, Homan’s defense reflects continued loyalty among some former officials who worked closely with Trump.
