EMMANUEL MACRON urges China to support peace plan for Ukraine

Friday, December 5, 2025 -
French President Emmanuel Macron has called on China to actively back a peace plan aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Speaking at an international forum, Macron emphasized that Beijing’s influence could be pivotal in facilitating negotiations and reducing hostilities.

Analysts note that the appeal underscores Europe’s urgent need for global diplomatic engagement amid escalating tensions.

Macron highlighted that continued fighting not only threatens regional stability but also exacerbates global economic pressures, including energy and food security.

He urged China to leverage its political and economic ties with Russia to encourage dialogue and support a viable roadmap toward ceasefire and conflict resolution. The call comes as Western nations push for coordinated diplomatic efforts to bring warring parties to the negotiating table.

Diplomatic observers say Macron’s outreach reflects a growing strategy to involve major powers in stabilizing Ukraine, signaling that peace efforts require broader international buy-in.

As European leaders continue to press for negotiation avenues, attention is increasingly focused on China’s response and its potential to shape the trajectory of the conflict in the coming months.
