Friday, November 7, 2025 -Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Roblox, alleging that the online gaming platform deceives parents about the safety risks it poses to children.
Paxton joined the attorneys general of Kentucky and Louisiana, as well as numerous private plaintiffs, who have claimed that Roblox’s platform has become a haven for child predators and sexual exploitation.Similar claims have been made against other online platforms, and Paxton filed a similar lawsuit against ByteDance’s TikTok in January.
In response, Roblox stated that it has robust protocols to remove harmful actors and protect users, including controls that allow parents to restrict their children’s communication and content access. The company also emphasized that it does not permit users to share images and collaborates closely with law enforcement.
Roblox expressed its shared commitment to safeguarding children and teens online. However, the company expressed disappointment that, rather than collaborating with Roblox on this industry-wide challenge and seeking effective solutions, the Attorney General has chosen to file a lawsuit based on misrepresentations and sensationalized claims.
In a regulatory filing dated October 30, Roblox reported an average of 151.5 million daily active users in the third quarter of 2024. Notably, 83% of these users were outside the United States and Canada. Additionally, Roblox stated that 40% of its daily active users were under the age of 13 in 2024.
