Missing Virginia High School football coach wanted on child porn charges, police say

Wednesday, November 26, 2025 -
Travis L. Turner, head football coach at Union High School in Wise County, Virginia, is currently the subject of a statewide manhunt after police issued multiple arrest warrants against him.

Authorities say Turner faces five counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor. He reportedly went missing from his home on November 20, just as Virginia State Police were en route to speak with him regarding the investigation.

The school district has immediately placed Turner on administrative leave and barred him from all contact with students. Search teams, including K‑9 units and drones, are actively scouring the area for Turner.

Officials have urged the public not to approach him and to contact authorities if they have any information about his whereabouts. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as digital evidence is reviewed.

The situation has sent shockwaves through the Union High School community, especially coming during the team’s undefeated season and just days before a playoff game.

Players and staff are grappling with the emotional impact, while law enforcement and school officials focus on student safety and the continued search for Turner. This case underscores urgent questions about oversight and the protection of minors in school settings.
