Saturday, November 15, 2025 -Michael Burry, famously known from The Big Short, is shutting down his hedge fund, Scion Asset Management. He deregistered with the SEC as of November 10, 2025, meaning he’ll no longer manage money for external clients or file public disclosures.
In a letter to investors dated October 27, Burry said he would liquidate the fund and return capital by year-end, keeping back only a small amount for auditing. He explained that his valuation of securities “is not now, and has not been for some time, in sync with the markets.”
Still, this isn’t a retreat — it’s a reset. On social media, Burry teased a new chapter beginning November 25, writing simply, “On to much better things.” He’s also stepped up his skepticism of big tech, warning that companies like Nvidia and Palantir may be hiding true costs through aggressive accounting.
