Powerful nor’easter forms, threatening East Coast with heavy rain and winds

Monday, October 13, 2025- A powerful nor’easter is forming off the U.S. East Coast, set to bring days of stormy weather from the Carolinas to New England. Forecasters warn of torrential rain, coastal flooding, and winds up to 60 mph as the system strengthens over the Atlantic.

The slow-moving storm could dump several inches of rain across major cities along the I-95 corridor, with the heaviest impacts expected through the weekend.

Authorities have issued flood and high-wind warnings across coastal states, urging residents to secure property and prepare for power outages. In low-lying areas, forecasters predict significant beach erosion and dangerous surf, especially in New Jersey, Long Island, and southern New England. Travelers are being cautioned about delays as airports and highways brace for widespread disruption.

Meteorologists say the nor’easter may linger into early next week, prolonging the threat of flooding and strong gusts. As millions hunker down, the storm’s reach could test the East Coast’s storm readiness once again a reminder of nature’s growing volatility in the fall season.
