Tuesday, October 7, 2025-Former UFC light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev has spoken publicly for the first time since his shocking knockout loss to Alex Pereira at UFC 320.
The defeat which came in just 80 seconds stunned fans and ended Ankalaev’s reign in dramatic fashion. But in his first statement since the fight, the Russian fighter framed the loss as a spiritual test rather than a setback.
Posting on Instagram, Ankalaev wrote, “If Allah tested me with defeat, then He wants to toughen me. I bow to His will, but not to difficulties. To those who stayed thank you. To those who turned out, thank you too. After all, Allah clears the way not only of weakness, but also of unnecessary people.” His message reflected humility, faith, and a determination to come back stronger.
Analysts say Ankalaev’s response signals a man far from done. The 32-year-old hinted that the defeat is part of a larger lesson one that could fuel his return to title contention. As Alex Pereira celebrates reclaiming the light heavyweight belt, fans are already speculating when not if Ankalaev will step back into the Octagon to seek redemption.
