Another TRUMP-PUTIN summit? Not so fast

Wednesday, October 22, 2025-Talk of a second meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is stirring speculation, but officials from both sides are downplaying expectations.

While Trump recently hinted that a summit could take place “soon,” possibly in Europe, neither Washington nor Moscow has confirmed any concrete plans or dates.

The Kremlin said that although discussions about a potential meeting have occurred, significant groundwork and negotiations are still required before it can happen.

The White House also clarified that “no immediate plans” are in place for a Trump-Putin summit, emphasizing that ongoing diplomatic and security issues must first be addressed.

Observers believe the cautious tone reflects the political and strategic complexities surrounding U.S.-Russia relations, particularly on matters such as Ukraine and NATO. Analysts say that while a summit remains possible, it is unlikely to occur in the near term, and any eventual meeting would be heavily scrutinized at home and abroad.
