Study finds Russia forcing abducted Ukrainian children into militarization

Wednesday, September 17, 2025 -A new study has revealed that Russia is subjecting abducted Ukrainian children to “forced militarization” at more than 200 facilities, raising international alarm over potential violations of humanitarian law.

The report claims that children taken from occupied regions of Ukraine are being placed in camps where they undergo military-style training under Russian supervision.

The findings have provoked outrage from Kyiv, with Ukrainian officials calling the program a blatant attempt to erase cultural identity and turn children into instruments of war.

Human rights groups are urging global bodies, including the United Nations, to intervene and hold Moscow accountable, while Russian authorities have denied the accusations, framing the programs as “rehabilitation” or “education.”

Analysts warn that if these claims are substantiated, the practice could deepen international isolation of Russia and intensify demands for accountability in war crimes tribunals.

The fate of these children is now at the center of a broader debate on how far the Kremlin is willing to go in its war strategy and how the world responds may shape both humanitarian outcomes and geopolitical fault lines.
