ONANA loan to Trabzonspor brings no fee for Man Utd

Thursday, September 11, 2025 -Manchester United will reportedly receive no fee for Andre Onana’s surprise loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor, according to newly revealed terms of the deal.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper, who joined United last summer in a high-profile transfer, struggled to settle at Old Trafford and has now been sent out on loan in search of regular game time. The agreement is said to cover only his wages, with no financial compensation guaranteed for the Premier League side.

The move has stirred mixed reactions among fans. Supporters expressed frustration at United’s inability to secure a fee for a player who was once seen as a long-term solution between the posts.

Others welcomed the decision, arguing that a fresh start could help Onana regain confidence after a turbulent debut season in England. Turkish fans of Trabzonspor, meanwhile, celebrated the acquisition, viewing the goalkeeper as a marquee signing who can lift their domestic and European ambitions.

For United, the loan could ease dressing-room pressure while offering Onana a chance to rediscover form away from the spotlight. However, the lack of financial gain raises questions about the club’s transfer strategy and player management.

Should Onana perform well in Turkey, United may face the decision of reintegrating him into the squad or selling him outright potentially at a reduced value compared to the investment made just a year ago.
