Doubts about RFK JR. grow for some republicans

Tuesday, September 9, 2025 -Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent presidential campaign, once seen as a potential disruptor to both major parties, is now facing skepticism from some Republicans who had initially viewed him as a useful counterweight to President Joe Biden.

Early enthusiasm on the right stemmed from Kennedy’s critiques of vaccines and government overreach, but recent polling and his shifting rhetoric have raised concerns about whether his candidacy could siphon more votes from Donald Trump than from Democrats.

Among Republican voters and strategists, unease has begun to surface. Conservative commentators on talk radio and social media argue that Kennedy’s progressive roots and environmental stances make him an unreliable ally for the right.

Some GOP operatives fear that promoting his campaign could backfire, especially in battleground states where margins are razor-thin. At the same time, Democrats have doubled down on portraying him as a spoiler with little realistic path to victory.

Political analysts say the growing doubts reflect the high-stakes calculations both parties are making as the 2024 race intensifies. For Republicans, distancing from Kennedy may become a strategic necessity to keep the focus squarely on uniting behind Trump.

Kennedy, however, continues to frame himself as a populist alternative to the two-party system, insisting he can draw support from across the political spectrum. His ultimate impact remains uncertain, but the doubts now surfacing could undermine his momentum heading into the final stretch of the campaign.
