Tuesday, September 23, 2025 - The 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday night celebrated some of football’s biggest stars, with Arsenal forward Viktor Gyökeres and Spain manager Luis Enrique among the top honorees.
Gyökeres, who was in sensational form last season leading
Sorting Lisbon’s attack before this summer’s move to Arsenal, was awarded the
Gerd Müller Trophy as the best striker of the year. His prolific goal-scoring
exploits beat several elite forwards across Europe for the accolade.
Spain’s Luis Enrique capped a remarkable year by winning the
Men’s Johan Cruyff Trophy for Best Coach of the Year, after guiding his
national team to Euro 2025 glory. On the women’s side, England manager Sarina
Wiegman was recognised with the equivalent coaching honour.
In the goalkeeper category, Gianluigi Donnarumma (Italy,
Manchester City) lifted the Men’s Yashin Trophy, while Hannah Hampton (England,
Chelsea) claimed the inaugural Women’s Yashin Trophy.
Young talent was also in the spotlight as Barcelona’s rising
stars swept the Kopa Trophies — with Lamine Yamal named best young male player
and Vicky López taking the women’s award.
The Club of the Year awards reflected dominance at both
domestic and continental levels: Paris Saint-Germain triumphed in the men’s
category, while Arsenal Women were crowned in the women’s category.
The glittering Paris gala once again underscored the global
spread of football excellence, with Arsenal, Barcelona, PSG, and Spain’s
national teams emerging as some of the night’s biggest winners.
