TRUMP-PUTIN summit in Alaska ends without Ukraine ceasefire deal

Sunday, August 17, 2025 -The high-stakes summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska concluded without a breakthrough on Ukraine.

Despite days of negotiations, both leaders failed to agree on a framework for a ceasefire, underscoring deep divisions over the conflict. While Trump touted the talks as “productive,” no formal agreements were signed, leaving the future of peace efforts uncertain.

The outcome sparked frustration among Western allies, with European officials urging the U.S. to take a firmer stance on Russian aggression. Critics at home accused Trump of offering concessions without securing commitments, while Putin framed the summit as evidence of Russia’s strength on the global stage.

The stalemate leaves the conflict grinding on with no clear resolution in sight. Analysts warn that the failure to secure progress could embolden Russia while straining U.S. credibility among NATO partners. Attention now shifts to upcoming regional talks, where pressure will mount for renewed diplomacy amid mounting human and economic costs.
