NETANYAHU signals full military control of Gaza in bold shift

Sunday, August 10, 2025 - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel aims to assume full military control over the entirety of Gaza, marking one of the most aggressive policy statements since the start of the conflict.

His comments, delivered amid escalating regional tensions, signal a pivot from containment to direct occupation, a move likely to redraw the geopolitical map. Analysts warn that such control could require a long-term military presence, stretching Israel’s defense resources and testing its global alliances.

The statement has triggered sharp reactions worldwide. Palestinian officials condemned the announcement as a “blueprint for perpetual occupation,” while several Arab nations issued urgent calls for UN intervention.

Human rights groups caution that expanded military operations in Gaza could deepen the humanitarian crisis, with the UN already reporting that over 80% of residents are displaced or in urgent need of aid. In Israel, public opinion remains divided with some lauding the move as essential for security, and others fearing an endless cycle of conflict.

Should Israel proceed, the decision could reshape not just Gaza’s governance but the broader Middle East power balance. U.S. diplomats are reportedly pressing for restraint to avoid a wider regional war, while military analysts predict a surge in militant resistance if control is fully seized.
