Monday, June 23, 2025 - The Katsina State Police Command said its officers have rescued six farmers after gunfight in the Kwari Manaja Forest, located in Sabuwa Local Government Area.
Zagazola Makama reports on Sunday that the attack happened
on June 21, at around 5:41 p.m., when gunmen stormed farmlands where villagers
were working and kidnapped several individuals.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Sabuwa was quickly
alerted, and a team of tactical operatives led a convoy of Armoured Personnel
Carrier (APC) patrol vehicles to the area.
The officers confronted the armed men in a fierce exchange
of gunfire, eventually overpowering them and forcing them to abandon their
captives and flee into the forest.
All six victims were rescued unharmed. They include Ayuba,
51; Mubarak, 23; Garba, 25; Ibrahim, 21; Bala, 28; and Nura, 25 — all male
residents of Tashar Nadaya village.
Police confirmed that none of the victims sustained
injuries, and search operations are now ongoing to track down the fleeing
bandits and ensure the safety of surrounding communities.
