Monday, June 30, 2025 -Veteran Yoruba actor Fatai Adekunle Adetayo, popularly known as Lalude, has expressed deep frustration over what he describes as neglect after actively campaigning for President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during the 2023 elections.
Speaking on the Behind the Fame podcast,
Lalude said he and fellow actors were promised financial compensation for their
support but received nothing in return.
“After we
campaigned for Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, we were not given a dime,” he said.
The actor singled out NURTW boss MC Oluomo,
alleging that he failed to fulfil promises made to the actors who participated
in the campaign. According to him, they spent seven weeks working on the
campaign, trekking long distances while others passed by in vehicles.
He claimed that they were initially paid ₦10,000 per day for
feeding, but the payment abruptly stopped.
Lalude further revealed that MC Oluomo promised him and
veteran comedian Ganiu ‘Alapini’ Nofiu ₦1.5 million each, a
promise that was never fulfilled.
“MC promised
me and Alapini. He asked us to name our price. We did. But we got nothing. We
finished the work, and no dime was given to us. Is it good?” he added.
The actor didn’t mince words, saying those behind the failed
promises "will not prosper," and warned that 2027 won’t be business
as usual.
His comments follow similar complaints from fellow
entertainers Aminatu Papapa and Alapini, who have
also voiced regret and disappointment over their involvement in the campaign.
