Thursday, February 24, 2022 – A prominent senator from the Mt Kenya region has disclosed that he was invited to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s meeting at Sagana State Lodge but refused to attend.
Speaking on Wednesday when accompanying Deputy President William Ruto to the Ukambani region, Murang’a County Senator, Irungu Kang’ata, claimed the Sagana convention had tribalism motivations that he could not support and that is why he refused to attend.
“Mimi nilikuwa nimeitwa niende Sagana kule Rais yuko,” he said. “Mimi siwezi enda huko juu watu wa mount Kenya hii mwaka wamesema hawataki ukabila wanataka Kenya Moja.” Kang’ata said
“Tangu multi-partyism irudi, watu wa Mt. Kenya wamesema Ruto State House,” he added.
While pledging his support for DP Ruto, the senator stated that he would rather lose anything than betray the DP’s Kenya Kwanza camp.
“Mimi nilikuwa Senate Chief Whip ni heri nipoteze kiti lakini nisimsaliti bwana Ruto,” Kang’ata told Makueni county residents.
