Wednesday, February 23, 2022 – President Uhuru Kenyatta held a meeting with Mt Kenya leaders and opinion leaders on Wednesday at Sagan State Lodge, where he spilled the beans on why he fell out with Ex Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Mwangi Kiunjuri.
Uhuru, who was speaking in his native Kikuyu language, said he sacked Kiunjuri because he oversaw the collapse of various agricultural sectors, especially those within the Mount Kenya region where he hails from.
He wondered how Kiunjuri, who is The Service Party (TSP) leader, will transform lives as they keep promising in their campaigns.
He however praised the current Agriculture CS Peter Munya for reviving and transforming the sectors, including Tea, pyrethrum and even coffee.
“One and a half years of Munya as Agriculture CS has brought immense growth to the sector: pyrethrum factories have been re-opened, yet some people who were in the ministry say they will bring development they couldn’t before,” Uhuru said.
