Wednesday, February 23, 2022 – Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is not leaving anything to chance as far as his journey to State House is concerned.
This is after he sacked an ODM official over his close links with embattled ODM presidential hopeful and tycoon Jimi Wanjigi; a move that was widely supported by the party members.
Addressing the press yesterday, members of ODM Machakos regional wing of the party argued that its Chairman, Jacob Mule, shifted his allegiance to Wanjigi rather than supporting Raila’s presidential bid.
In a statement, the group also claimed that Mule, who was newly installed into the position, was not cooperative with the party and neither championed its ideologies.
“We had a problem with our newly elected chairman who has not been very cooperative and is not supporting our presidential candidate who is Raila Amolo Odinga.”
“Today, we have resolved to suspend Jacob Mule and he is no longer supposed to transact any business on behalf of Machakos ODM County Office,” stated a member.
Mule was elected to the position in July 2021 backed by eight chairmen from Machakos Sub-Counties to replace Peter Mutulu, but went rogue after meeting with Wanjigi.
