Saturday, February 26, 2022 – Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s wife, Mama Ida Odinga, to stop attacking churches.
Uhuru, on Wednesday, while speaking at Sagana State Lodge, castigated some religious leaders, accusing them of being accomplices of corruption activities in the country.
Uhuru said some church leaders have a penchant for seeking corrupt money from politicians and in return, push lies propagated by their financiers.
On her part, Mama Ida, last month, caused a social media storm when she urged the government to close small churches but she later apologised after she received a major backlash.
Commenting on social media on Friday, Kuria said it is wrong for Uhuru and Mama Ida to attack churches since they are only answerable to God.
“Assume the Church is wrong, what qualifies earthly mortals like political leaders to stand judgment?
“Let the Church be. If they are wrong they report to God Almighty and he doesn’t need our help to punish them,” Kuria said in a tweet.
